Our commitment to health and safety extends to the employees of our business partners and to the people who live near or visit our facilities. We aim to provide a supportive work environment in which our people feel confident sharing their ideas and trying new approaches. Their creativity is crucial to our success.

UN goal 8

Our strategic plan

Commitment

  • Respect labor rights and ensure a safe, healthy, and secure work environment for all employees and contractors; promote the same standards in our joint ventures and partnerships

Target

  • Increase the share of women in leadership positions to 25% by 2025, and to 30% by 2030
  • Achieve a Group-wide combined TRIF threshold of 1.0 or below by 2025

Our people's health and safety

100%

ISO45001 certified operating entities

Maintaining high health and safety standards is a core Uniper value first and foremost because we care about our people. Safety is also of practical importance: it enables us to avoid work stoppages and lost time that result from accidents. The occupational health and safety management systems of all Uniper’s operating entities are certified to ISO 45001.

2.42

Combined TRIF

Our safety metric for management purposes is combined total recordable incident frequency (TRIF). It measures the number of work-related accidents sustained by our employees and contractors per million hours of work. Uniper’s combined TRIF for 2023 was 2.42, an increase from 2022 (2.24 excluding Russian Power Generation, 1.76 including Russian Power Generation January-September 2022). To reach our goal of reducing the threshold for combined TRIF to 1.0 by 2025, we continue to focus on dedicated safety leadership training.

Fair and attractive employer

We place a significant emphasis on an open and trusting corporate culture, which we call the Uniper Way. Our employees are key to our success. The labor market is highly competitive. This makes having a strong and attractive employer brand crucial for attracting and hiring the kind of people who can help Uniper realize its ambition.

Working at Uniper

One of the world's best.

The U.S.-based Institute for Quality named Uniper one of the world’s best employers in Germany.

The institute drew on 55 different sources (including rating portals, career websites, and media coverage) to assess the attractiveness of more than 74,000 companies on topics like sustainability and new work. Additionally, in 2023, Nyckeltalsinstitutet AB of Sweden again recognized Uniper as an excellent employer and, indeed, as the best employer. The award considers data and scientific analyses of working conditions, such as health care, salary, sick leave, management setup, and career opportunities.
